There are actually 3 distinct projects which came together to make this track:

1.) I wrote a track on January 4th (which might still see the light of day in itself), but here I used it as raw sample material the next day to make...
2.) a drone-y, warm-and-textured but rather shapeless ambient track.
3.) Then on the 20th, after a period of working on the first track again and with about 5% charge left on my laptop, I spent a couple minutes just messing around with distorted beats.

Later, I decided to try merging the beats into the formless ambient track, and then spent a lot of additional time bringing structure and adding all kinds of new elements to that merger of the two (one of which samples the first).
